Best Suspension Kit for Ford Focus ST

Focus ST owners have two sensible routes: a coilover kit if you want to set the ride height, or a spring kit if you want to keep your standard dampers and spend less. The catch is that the ST is not a standard Focus, and plenty of Focus kits say so in the listing.
What to check before you buy
- Which ST you have. Mk2 ST225 (2005-2011), Mk3 ST250 (2012-2018, including the later 2.0 TDCi ST) and Mk4 ST (2019-on, 2.0 EcoBlue and 2.3 EcoBoost) all take different parts.
- Hatch or estate. Turnier and estate models are listed separately from hatchbacks, and spring rates differ.
- Read the exclusions. Kits that say "except ST models" will not fit your car, however cheap they look.
- Damping. Spring kits keep your existing dampers, so if they are past 60,000 miles, budget for replacements at the same time.
- What you actually want. Height adjustment for stance and corner weighting, or a modest, factory-quality drop.
Coilover options that include the ST
JOM BlueLine Focus 2, including ST 2.5, £184.96
Listed for Focus 2 1.6 Ti, 1.8, 2.0, TDCi and ST 2.5, 10.2004-2010, excluding Cabrio and Turnier. This is the correct kit for a Mk2 ST225 hatchback, and the cheapest height-adjustable option we stock for the ST.
JOM Redline Focus 2, including ST 2.5, £227.00
The Redline version of the same fitment, with JOM's stiffer fast-road setup.
Important: our JOM BlueLine Focus 3 kit at £194.38 is listed "except Turnier and ST models". It is a great kit for a standard Focus 3, but do not order it for an ST.
Spring kit options (Eibach), from £256.17
Eibach list ST-specific kits for every generation, which means correct spring rates rather than a compromise:
- Focus II 2.5 ST, 2005-2012 - £256.17
- Focus III 2.0 ST, 2011-2014 - £256.17 and 2012-on - £256.17
- Focus III 2.0 TDCi ST, 2014-on - £269.79
- Focus III Turnier 2.0 ST / 2.0 TDCi ST - £269.79
- Focus IV 2.0 ST EcoBlue / 2.3 ST EcoBoost - £262.13, and the estate version at £268.94

Fitment checklist for the Focus ST
- Which generation and which ST, for example Mk2 ST225 or Mk3 2.0 TDCi ST.
- Hatch or estate.
- Read the listing for ST exclusions before ordering.
- Damper mileage, if fitting springs only.
- Wheel and tyre clearance at your intended ride height.
Fitting tips from our workshop
- Replace the front top mounts and bearings with the kit.
- If you are only fitting springs, inspect the dampers first. Worn dampers plus lowering springs is a bad combination.
- Book a four-wheel alignment afterwards.
- On an estate, check the rear arch clearance with the car loaded, not just empty.
FAQs
Coilovers or springs for a daily-driven ST? Springs, if your dampers are healthy and you want a modest drop. Coilovers, if you want to set ride height precisely or the dampers need replacing anyway.
Will lowering springs ruin the ST's handling? A quality kit with correct spring rates improves it. Cheap springs that drop the car too far make it worse.
Do I need to declare it to my insurer? Yes, any suspension change is a modification.

Many standard Focus suspension kits are listed "except ST" because the ST has its own spring rates and rear setup. Always check the listing against your exact model.
